Welcome To IISA

The ICARDA International School of Aleppo is a non-profit coeducational day school founded in 1977. Its purpose is to serve the children of staff members of the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas and to provide a university-preparatory education for all students that will result in a smooth transition to institutions of higher learning worldwide.

The ICARDA International School of Aleppo is accredited K-12 by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is an IB World School. IISA is also a member of the Near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools (NESA) and the Mediterranean Association of International Schools (MAIS).

The language of instruction at IISA is English. The school follows a blended British and American curriculum. It has an IB Primary Years Program (IBPYP) in the elementary school. In grades 9 and 10 the school is a Center for International Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). The IB Diploma Program is in place in grades 11 and 12. The Syrian Ministry of Education officially recognizes the IISA IB Diploma. The school maintains separate programs at all grade levels for teaching the Arabic language to native Arabic speakers and to non-native speakers.
